Turkish low-cost airline Fly Air plans to fly to the cities of Suleymaniyah and Erbil in the north of Iraq. "The flights are expected to begin as soon as possible," said Fly Air Chairman and General Manager Mehmet Hasancebi.
The airline is hoping that these new routes will get underway within the next 10 days. "Security is a concern of course, but we have managed to get the necessary permission from the institutions governing international air traffic in order to initiate the new flight service," said Hasancebi.
The initial service will be provided between Istanbul and Erbil, and flights to Suleymaniyah will initially be scheduled by transiting through the airports of Dubai, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt.
At present the region solely depends on highways for all their transport needs. |
