Ukraine signs natural gas deal with Turkmenistan Print E-mail
The Ukraine signed a deal with Turkmenistan on Wednesday to receive 40 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually.

Following the meeting with President Sapar Murat Turkmenbasi in Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat, the Chief of Russia's natural gas monopoly Gazprom Aleksei Miller stated that Ukraine are going to get 40 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Turkmenistan. European countries were relieved after the issue of natural gas supplies between Ukraine and Russia was worked through on Wednesday morning.

The deal was signed for five years. Miller said, “We had also signed a deal with Turkmenistan in December and this was the last part of the meeting. According to the deal, the Ukraine is going to get 40 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Turkmenistan. And Turkmenistan’s construction of pipeline is due to finish this year. The economic aspect has also been worked through.”
