According to a public research study conducted in Europe, mostly the French and Austrians are opposed to Turkey’s accession to European Union (EU).
The results of the research conducted by the “Advanced Market Research” institute in the German city of Düsseldorf, with the help of German news magazine Der Spiegel, in regard to several issues in France, Britain, the Netherlands, Austria, and Poland, indicates that 71 percent of French and 70 percent of Austrians are against Turkey’s accession to the EU; in the Netherlands the same figure is at 37 percent.

A rate of 65 percent belongs to the French topping the list of countries opposing foreign troops being stationed in Iraq and calls for their withdrawal from the country.

The rate of people assessing that German Chancellor Angela Merkel will successfully carry out her role is at 58 percent among Dutch and Austrian citizens, while only 36 percent of Poles show the same level of confidence.

Forty-two percent of Polish citizens believe Germany has a great deal of influence within the bloc.
