Teachers exiled for teaching evolution theory |

Five teachers were exiled in the southeastern city of Mersin for
teaching the theory of evolution, which is believed to have shaken the
religious beliefs of their students.
The city's governor, who
exiled the teachers, had denied reasons behind the move and blamed it
on violations of clothing regulations and other irregularities. |

Yahoo IM Service to offer Skype-like feature |

Yahoo Inc. is reported to offer Skype-like features on its
instant-message service. This new feature will allow people to dial
regular phone numbers by using their computers. It will also allow the
users to receive calls from conventional phones.
The availability of this new paid service is still indefinite. However,
the company has indicated that the launch was approaching. |

As no agreement was reached on the
Cyprus declaration prepared by the European Commission, the Permanent
Representatives Committee (COREPER) postponed the approval of the
financial support regulations.The Greek Cypriots requested the
separation of the financial support and direct trade regulations as
well as the Commission to issue the declaration while the financial
support was passing. |

Scientists noted 1.9 million brain cells
(neurons) die in one minute during a heart attack, since the oxygen
flow to brain is interrupted and the brain ages 3.6 years per hour.
Dr.
Jeffrey L. Saver, a member of the reseach team at the University of
California, said any delays in intervention and treatment make the
brain damage worse. |

 The European Union (EU) has reached an agreement on the Accession
Partnership Document (APD). Representatives of member countries coming
together in the working group yesterday made another concession for the
Greek Cypriots and reached an agreement on the APD.
Footnote 5,
objected to by the Greek Cypriots, was removed from the text. In its
place, a reference was made to the issue in the APD’s cover page that
will be present while being offered to the Committee of Permanent
Representatives (COREPER) and THE EU Council of Ministers. |

who promised to establish closer relationships with the US government
when she comes to power, gave her first concrete support to Washington
on the issue of CIA’s airplane scandal.
Following the scandal
emerged upon claims that the agency ran a secret charter service,
shuttling detainees to interrogation in European countries, US
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice began visits to persuade her

Time Warner CEO: "AOL is not for sale" |

In a report by the Associated Press Tuesday, Time Warner is not
interested in selling its AOL unit. Instead, America Online Inc. is
seeking a partner to boost its advertising revenue.
According to
Richard Parsons, Time Warner’s Chief Executive Office, “We are not
interested in selling AOL,” he affirms at a press briefing in Los
Angeles.
However, Time Warner is attempting to convert AOL’s revenue model
from one that makes money from advertising by relying on paid
subscriptions. |
