Professor warns on stem cell banks in Turkey

Professor Gulsersu Irken of the Dokuz Eylul University's Child Hematology Department has alleged that people in Turkey are being tricked by those engaging in the sale and storage of umbilical cord stem cells in special banks set up for this purpose. Said Professor Iken, "Someone in Ankara who was considering opening up a restaurant saw that this might be more profitable, and set up stem cell blood banks for profit." Professor Iken noted that in the first year alone, between $1,000 and $1,500 were charged for the storage of umbilical cord blood cells.

Another EU Fiasco Over Cyprus

The European Union (EU) heads from one crisis to another over the Cyprus issue. The EU, guaranteeing membership to the Greek Cypriots before the resolution of the problem, is now having subsequent fiascos to end isolation on Turks, who said "yes" to the Annan Plan in 24 April 2004.

The Greek Cypriot Administration, becoming a member to represent the whole island one week after having said "no" to the Annan Plan, continues vetoing all attempts to free the Turks from isolation.

Iraqi PM Accuses Saddam of 'Show offs'

Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari has announced ousted leader Saddam Hussein will not be prevented for his show offs during the trials and said the Judiciary is independent.

Jaafari during his contacts in Japan termed Saddam as an "advertisement freak" who cannot control himself under the spotlights.

The first private Turkish airlines company, Fly Air, has initiated scheduled flights and prepares to make flight to the cities of Erbil and Suleymaniye in northern Iraq.

2nd Witness on the Stand Today in Saddam Trial

Evidence from a second witness was heard on the fourth day of the trial of the Saddam case, in which the toppled Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein and his seven companions, have come before a judge accused of killing hundreds in the Dujail massacre in 1982.

Chief Justice Rizgar Mohammed Emin first heard the statement from female witness, Witness ‘A’, given from behind a curtain. At the end of the first hour of her testimony, a closed session is determined and the defense counsel was allowed to see the witness in person.

Turkish Airlines has become the biggest national airport company to increase its passenger number in Europe.
According to the European Airlines Union data, the leading Turkish airline company has already carried 11,610 million passengers, a 20.9 percent increase when compared with the same period (January-October) last year.

Forecast on Search Engine Google Shares: "Notably Risky"

Scott Kessler, an analyst from Standard & Poor’s Equity Research, has maintained a hold rating on search engine giant Google and raised the company’s target price. However, the lowered 2006 earnings estimate will be seen after the accounting for the projected stock options expense.

Kessler, who based his decision on Google’s lower weighted-average cost of capital projection and using the 2006 forecasts, he has raised his target price on Google to US$428 from US$364. On the other hand, he lowered his 2006 fiscal earnings per share estimate for Google to US$7.62 to US$8.09.

Spain: 5 Small Blasts on Madrid Highways

Following a warning from the separatist ETA organization earlier Tuesday in the Basque region of Spain, five small explosions have occurred on highways in Madrid.

AOL Search Engine to Drop Google For Microsoft

Time Warner and Microsoft are expected to co-develop an advertising network that will level its services to compete with the largest search engine giants Yahoo! Inc and Google.

The extravagant plan of Microsoft to spend billions on AOL stake while combining its dial-up business has been scaled back a bit. According to the Wall Street Journal report, the changes in the negotiations will have a massive impact as the deal is expected to be formally closed probably before Christmas.

Based on The Journal’s report, the past negotiations have been changed due to a plan of building an online advertising service alongside its rival such as Yahoo’s newly launched Publisher Network and Google’s AdSense.
