First International Santa Clause Festival in Demre

Demre town of southern city of Antalya is hosting the First International Santa Clause Festival. A 200-member Bulgarian delegation arrived in Demre on Saturday to attend the festival. Demre sub-governor Mustafa Gurdal said that the municipality organized the festival for the first time, adding that they expected the number of participants of the festival would increase in the coming years. The festival will end on December 8th. St. Nicholas, also known as Santa Clause, lived in Demre and was ordained Bishop in the 4th century A.D.
