Turkey’s tourism boom continues Print E-mail
More than 20 million tourists have visited Turkey so far this year.
The Turkish tourism sector experienced another bumper month in November, with a record number of foreign visitors arriving.

According to figures released by the Turkish Institute of Statistics Monday, there were 1,052,561 arrivals from overseas last month, an increase of 12.2 percent over November 2004. Not only was it a record for November arrivals, last month’s total also pushed Turkey over the 20 million mark for foreign tourists for the year. By the end of last month, there had been 20,263,050 arrivals from overseas for the year.

The biggest jump was in tourists from the US, with arrivals shooting up by 81.1 percent last month compared to November 2004. However, the number of foreign visitors from the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development countries fell by 9.4 percent in November.
