A recent survey in the US has revealed
declining support of Americans for the war in Iraq and the fight
against terrorism. According to the CNN/USA TODAY/Gallup poll,
64 percent of Americans do not expect a second terrorist attack against
the country. Those, who think a terrorist attack against the US was
"highly probable", was 10 percent in February, this figure has since
fallen to four percent.
Eighty-five percent of US citizens used to think that a new terrorist
attack might occur according to public opinion polls conducted one
month after the 9/11 attacks. The poll also reveals that 59 percent of
the people are totally against the war in Iraq while its supporters
remain at 39 percent. The supporter proportion in March was at 47
percent. Fifty-eight percent think the prison at the Guantanamo Bay
should not be closed as opposed to the 36 percent who believe it should
remain operational. |
