A police car carrying three policemen and a female passenger, came under an insurgent attack while travelling in Kirkuk province's Domuz bashi district on Saturday. The woman and a police officer died at the scene while two other policemen were injured and taken to Kirkuk hospital. "Insurgents fired at this car from a black Opel. Two people including a policeman was killed in the attack. Two policemen were wounded in the event.
Security inquiry is underway", said Lieutenant Colonel Burhan Tayyip, the deputy of police chief of Kirkuk police HQ.
The woman killed was being given a lift by the police car.
An Iraqi eyewitness said that firing suddenly came from a black car while policemen, working for Cumhuriye hospital, were passing.
Police rushed to the scene and increased security to prevent any more attacks. Curious Iraqi onlooker gathered at the scene to watch the police inquiry.
