The news published in the Washington Post has caused a public stir
since the article claimed that former German Minister of Interior Otto
Schily knew about the secret American intelligence operations.
On the eve of the US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s
visit to Germany, the Washington Post article brought the issues
related to the fight with terror and legality to the fore.
The story referring to a CIA official, claimed that the one time German
Interior Minister knew of the release of Khaled al-Masri, who was
mistakenly abducted but set free later on, last May and that he was
briefed by the US Ambassador then regarding the issue. US Ambassador to
Germany Daniel R. Coats personally briefed Schily, the Washington Post
claimed in the article. |
